If you’ve never heard of REBarCamp, read the next paragraph. If you know what it’s all about skip straight to the bit that says There’s beer.
For the uninitiated, REBarCamp stands for Real Estate BarCamp. It’s an un-conference held in a bar. There are no paid speakers or trainers. There’s no-one flogging books or training courses. No-one profits from running BarCamp. It works by getting a bunch of like-minded agents together, usually at a pub. They decide what they want to learn. Learning comes from a series of open conversations where everyone gets to have their say and share what they know. It rewards people who are active learners and who are willing to take responsibility for their learning experience.
So why would you want to attend REBarCamp? Here are 5 reasons you’d be mad to miss it!
1. There’s beer
REBarCamp is held in a bar. What do agents do in bars? Yep, you guessed it, they drink beer. Thanks to some generous sponsors you’ll be able drink beer (or wine if that’s your thing) and catch up with friends. Most people wait until lunch or the sundowner to drink beer. You don’t have to. The drinks at the sundowner are included in the ticket price.
2. There’s a hearty pub lunch
Yep, lunch. Not just stale sandwiches and 3 day-old sushi rolls but a full on, sit down pub lunch. Something hearty and filling. Oh, if you want to drink beer, that’s fine, too. So long as you’re having a good time and great conversations, because that’s what BarCamp is all about. Lunch? Yep, that’s included in the ticket price, too.
3. You get to help others learn
One of the best ways to learn new stuff is to teach it. Or explain it. Either way sharing what you know helps everyone sharpen the saw. And that’s what else BarCamp is all about – learning by sharing. You learn while helping others learn. There’s a win in that for everyone.
4. You’ll learn heaps
Ever been to a conference and walked away wondering what you actually learned? You have? So have I. That’s because conferences are designed for gurus to sell stuff by telling stories. In many ways that’s like trying to survive on fairy floss. Maybe you could but not for long. At BarCamp you’re expected to walk out the door with a notepad full of ideas that you can put into practice next morning. You’ll be able to do that because the ideas you’ve picked up are already working in the real world in offices around the corner or in the next suburb, not in some mythical super office in another state or country.
5. You’ll develop a network of super smart people
REBarCamp is set up to help you build a powerful network, one that supports you to achieve your goals. At BarCamp you’ll make connections (often while you’re drinking beer) with people who’ll become lifelong friends, mentors and confidants. They’re the ones you’ll pick up the phone to talk to about recruiting, or a sudden drop in market share or just because you’re excited to be alive.
So what are you waiting for? Click here to register. There are only 100 tickets available and once they’re gone, they’re gone.

If you can’t attend the whole day just come for the morning, stay for lunch and take off. Or do the afternoon sessions and drink beer after. Once you’ve got a ticket, the day is yours.
